Meet Lisa Walden

Family Law Attorney in Summerville, SC

Lisa Walden is a family law attorney in Summerville, South Carolina, whose professional and personal experiences have given her a unique understanding of the challenges families face during difficult transitions.

Before becoming an attorney, Lisa spent years working with children, families, the court system, and law enforcement. Today, she brings that experience to her family law practice at Leviner Law Firm, where she represents clients in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, domestic violence, and other complex family law issues.

A Career Focused on Children and Families

Lisa was born and raised in Georgia and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia.

After college, she began her professional career as a Child Protective Services worker in Gainesville, Georgia. For three years, Lisa worked closely with families involved in the family court and foster care systems. That experience gave her firsthand insight into the difficult circumstances families can face and the profound effect legal proceedings can have on both parents and children.

Lisa later served as a Crime Analyst with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, further expanding her experience working within the legal and law enforcement systems.

These early career experiences ultimately provided a strong foundation for Lisa’s decision to pursue a career in law and continue advocating for children and families.

Building a Life in the Summerville Community

Lisa and her family relocated to Summerville in 2007, and she has since become deeply involved in the community she now calls home.

She is a longtime member of Summerville Baptist Church, where she has served in several leadership and service roles, including:

  • Adult Sunday School Leader

  • Chair of the Bylaws Committee

  • Member of the Benevolence Committee

  • Sunday School Coordinator

Lisa’s commitment to serving the community extends well beyond her church.

She has volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem for Dorchester County and serves on the Board of Directors for the Dorchester District 2 Educational Foundation.

Lisa also serves as Vice President of the Dorchester County Bar Association and is a member of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce and the Summerville Cotillion.

Through these professional, civic, and community organizations, Lisa remains actively connected to the Summerville and Dorchester County communities where she lives, works, and raises her family.

Becoming a Family Law Attorney

In 2016, Lisa returned to school to pursue her law degree.

She graduated from the Charleston School of Law in 2020. During law school, Lisa continued developing the research, writing, and advocacy skills that would become important parts of her legal practice.

While attending Charleston School of Law, she:

  • Served as a fellow in the Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing department

  • Helped develop the West Virginia Open Courts Compendium

  • Volunteered with South Carolina Legal Services through its Domestic Violence Clinic

Her work with the Domestic Violence Clinic was particularly relevant to the family law practice she would later build, allowing her to assist individuals dealing with serious and highly personal legal circumstances.

Helping Families Navigate Difficult Legal Matters

At Leviner Law Firm, Lisa represents clients in a range of family law matters, with a particular focus on:

Lisa understands that family law cases are rarely just legal disputes. They often involve a client’s children, finances, home, safety, and future.

Her background allows her to approach these cases from several perspectives. Her experience in Child Protective Services gives her insight into issues affecting children and families. Her Guardian ad Litem service exposed her to the importance of protecting children’s interests. Her work with domestic violence matters has given her experience with clients facing especially sensitive circumstances.

Lisa uses that experience to help clients understand their options, prepare for what lies ahead, and make informed decisions about their families and their futures.

For Lisa, practicing family law in Summerville means serving the same community in which she and her family have built their lives.

Her involvement with local schools, civic organizations, the legal community, her church, and other community organizations reflects a longstanding commitment to Summerville and Dorchester County.

Lisa lives in Summerville with her husband and two children. When she is not practicing law or serving the community, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching Georgia football, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors.

At Leviner Law Firm, Lisa combines her legal training with years of experience working with children, families, courts, and community organizations to help clients navigate challenging family law matters with preparation, compassion, and a clear understanding of what is at stake.
